It’s September already!? Q4 is right around the corner, which means that now is the time to start testing different campaign promotions, so that you know exactly what strategy to use when Black Friday, Cyber Monday & Xmas comes around.
Here’s our top 5 promo ideas to test this September:
1. $ vs % off
Giving a dollar off your product or service can be perceived differently to giving a percentage off. Even if the value is the same, test both offers and see which one generates more sales and resonates with your audience!
2. Tiered discounts
Test giving a percentage or dollar amount off your product or service when the customer has reached certain price points. Here’s a couple of different examples:
- Buy one item for $100, two for $80 each, three for $60 each etc.
- Get 25% off when you spend $100 or more
Consider combining free shipping into your tiered discounts as well! i.e. Get 25% off PLUS free shipping when you spend $100!
3. Free gift with purchase
People LOVE getting free stuff! Think of something small but relevant to your audience that you can throw in for free when they make a purchase. It could be a branded tote bag, bucket hat or water bottle!
4. Post purchase discount code
Re-target your customers by giving them a promo code a few days after they made a purchase. We highly recommend putting an expiration date on the code to push urgency and drive repeat sales, fast.
5. Free shipping!
No one likes paying for shipping. If you can afford to do it, test including free shipping for different items on your website.
The benefit of testing these offers now, is so that you know which ones are going to land when the holiday season arrives. You don’t want to be pivoting your offer mid-way through November or December!
